Your local community connection.
Tired of the app scene? Looking for more than dates and hookups? Rainbow York was created to provide a space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirited folks (LGBTQ2) in York Region. Our goal is to create a range of fun activities to build your friend base and develop an active LGBTQ2 community. We also want to grow your participation in the amazing range of activities that York Region has to offers. Are you interested yet? Well we have set up four core principles that we feel will help develop an amazing community!

FOUR CORE PRINCIPLES

1. Friend-Up

Our goal is to create a space where you can come and meet new friends, hangout and learn about others. Let’s leave the dating and fun hookups for the app world. We really want you to come and meet new people.

2. Spectrum means a range of people
We want to ensure that all members feel welcome and part of our group. Part of that is ensuring that everyone is aware of their language and have an understanding that there is a full spectrum that people that make up the LGBTQ2 community. Here are a list of the amazing people we would love to come to our group: gay dads, lesbian ninja’s, trans comic book artists, bisexual pen collectors, twinks that work at carnivals and even gender fluid robots.

3. Flexibility
Our goal is to grow a group of people who want to do an array of activities from movie nights, hikes, farmer markets, cooking event, food tasting and more. If our members think that additional services are needed we will expand on what we offer. Did I hear someone say anime watching group??????

4. Youth, Parents and Allies
a. Youth (age 18 and under) feel free to attend any of our events.
b. Youth under the age of 16 need parental permission
c. Some of our event may have age limits based on Alcohol
d. Parents or Guardians: if you wish to attend an event with your child please contact us.
We would love to have you to an outing.
e. Parents or Guardians: not sure about the group please contact us.
f. Parents or Guardians looking to get support regarding their LGBTQ2 Youth should contact PFLAG
g. Do you have a friend or allies who want to come to an event? Well that’s cool with us.
Our goal is to provide a range of fun activities that allow friendships to blossom.
